Media Future Week 2011 – Deepening in the future of media
From the 16th until the 19th of May, the Media Future week took place in Almere. Rotterdam University was one of the 5 participating universities. Student-assistant of research group Human Centered ICT, Jan-Pieter Zoutewelle, was present at the Media Future Week 2011. Besides a lot of instructive speakers, including Gerd Leonhard, Seth Shapiro and Chris Crawford the attenders were working on a future media concept. The group students, teachers and professionals, divided in 10 groups, were working on this with the support of process facilitators. The program was divers, inspirational- and work moments were changing quickly. Researcher Manon van der Sar and Willemijn Phielix were active as the energy managers and were keeping the concept development active.
The Media Future Week was heavy for the participants, but all of them closed the week with a great satisfaction. There was a lot to learn for a lot of people and everyone had chances to use his or her talent in the 10 developed concepts. The 4 heavy days were closed with inspirational presentations of the concepts (with interruptions of BoomChicago) and an informal party.
Jan-Pieter Zoutewelle: “Besides a very pleasant way of working (you constantly had to achieve things on a high level) the week shaped my vision of the future in a much better way. We aren’t predicting the future, we are creating the future.”
